Author: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek mentioned that it should be the prerogative of the education minister to suggest the Public Service Department how principals should be dealt with in case they ignite racial prejudices via saying discriminatory things.
While presiding, the committee meeting, he pointed out that the government should take this matter seriously otherwise the rakyat community will feel neglected.
Reportedly a school principal at a national day function in Kulaijaya, Johor, pointed out that the non-Malays are just “penumpang (passengers)” in Malaysia. In addition at another location three students were scolded for not showing regard for their Muslim counterparts in the holy month of Ramadan.
Apart from this Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin pointed out that no civil servant can be suspended by any cabinet minister. Moreover, Dr Chua Soi Lek requested Datuk Dr Lee Chong Meng, previously Bukit Bintang MCA division chief to clarify his party membership rank. He said that since Dr Lee had been charged of corruption and had been suspended for a period of 3 years. So if in case he is not a member than there is no need to suspend him.
Dr Chua Soi Lekadded that the names of Khoo Soo Seang, an educationist and Chew Lee will be suggested by the party for filling the spaces of senators.
